The Alnwick Castle is in real time the home to the Duke of Northumberland. In the all the Harry Potter movies it sheltered the houses of Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Griffindor.

You may remember the exterior of Alnwick Castle and the grounds as the area of Hogwarts where Harry and his classmates took their flying lessons with Madame Hooch.

Alnwick is a small town and is home to just two and a half thousand people. It’s located near Northumberland National Park and close to a fantastic coastline. Alnwick Castle is a public building so has been renovated several times over the years.

Visitors from the U.K. and around the world come to see the enormous castle. Alnwick Castle receives more than 800,000 visitors each year.

At the Christ Church in Oxford, you can find the staircase the students at Hogwarts used to climb to get to the Great Hall where they had their meals and House choosing ceremonies.

As a matter of fact, if you take a tour throughout Oxford, you’ll find several other locations that were in the Harry Potter movies as well. This includes the Duke Humfrey’s Library which was used as the Hogwarts’ library.

One last reference to Harry Potter locations goes to the Gloucester Cathedral in Gloucester, Scotland.
The Cathedrals enormous and ornate Gothic cloisters were used for many of the interior scenes at Hogwarts.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan and have a chance to visit the U.K. do yourself a favor and make sure you visit at least some of these beautiful, ancient and historic sites.
